6990 Week 6: Jobs/Roles in the ECE Community: Internationally

This week’s assignment had us focus on international organizations.  This is what I found.

Save the Children is a global program reaching children and advocating for their rights.  They focus on serving children in some of the most under developed areas around the globe.  Fighting for children rights and education.  The reason I selected this organization is that they work with children in the most dire situations and assist them in education and fighting the injustices they experience daily.  The job that interested me the most was Education Lead:

“The Education Lead is responsible for overseeing the technical delivery of the program, to ensure education opportunities that are available, relevant, respectful and of high quality. S/he will put people at the core of the education program, to promote the resilience and well-being of children, teachers and communities affected by crisis and conflict. S/he will promote the acquisition of foundational skills for all children, based on the national curriculum but including international best practices. S/he will collaborate with all relevant stakeholders to strengthen education systems and to contribute to Niger’s progress towards self-reliance. In collaboration with the project technical team and partners, s/he will support the design of service delivery strategies, track progress towards program goals, and adapt as necessary. The qualifications for the position include a BA in Education, International Development or a related field.  It also requires five years experience with progressively increasing responsibility for designing, managing, and implementing complex education programming in developing countries involving multiple stakeholders and implementing partners.”

UNICEF is another global organization.  This organization “works in over 190 countries and territories to save children’s lives, to defend their rights, and to help them fulfil their potential, from early childhood through adolescence. And we never give up.  I selected this organization for its dedication to serving all children.  The job I found most interesting is Education Officer (Inclusive Education).  I am not qualified for this position due to not being a Serbian national, being bi-lingual, nor do I have the experience the position requires.  However, it would be something that interests me.   Here is the listing for the position:

Education Officer (Inclusive Education), (NO-2), Belgrade, Serbia, #115127 (Serbian nationals only)

Under the supervision of the Education Specialist, the incumbent will support the implementation of the Education programme priorities in the areas of Inclusive Education, Antidiscrimination and Violence Prevention, as well as the efforts of different stakeholders toward building a more inclusive education system, including through cooperation with EU.

The third organization that interests me is Childhood Education International.  I did not find any open positions within the organization.  I find the organization interesting because it focuses on building the foundation for early childhood learning and supporting educators about child health and well-being.
